LETTING GO

In India there are lots of monkeys. When the locals want to catch one, they set a trap by putting a small banana in a bottle with an opening just big enough for a monkey’s hand to slip through. Then they attach the bottle to the ground. Soon a monkey will come along and put his hand in the bottle and grab hold of the banana. But the monkey can’t get the banana out of the bottle, and not wanting to LET GO of the banana, he allows himself to be captured. If only he would have let go of the banana and run, he would NOT have been caught.

Sometimes we’re like that monkey. We won’t “LET GO” no matter WHAT HAPPENS! We hang on for dear life to old habits that don’t serve us, stinkin thinkin that keeps us stuck, thoughts that enslave us. We hang on to them even when to do so hurts us. If only we would “LET GO”, we could be FREE!  Free to be the person we were MEANT TO BE, free of hurts, habits, and hangups. What are YOU hanging onto that doesn’t serve you ? If you want to be FREE you need to be willing to LET GO!

Or maybe what you’re hanging on to is a GOOD THING but nevertheless, you need to LET GO in order to have  that BETTER THING! It’s not wrong to have desires, set goals, and want certain things. But we shouldn’t hang on so tightly  that we’re not willing to LET GO  of OUR OWN IDEAS ( good though they may be ) and let GOD put HIS PLANS in place in our lives. He has even BETTER PLANS than ours! So set your goals, and write out your desires but then hold them LIGHTLY so you can LET GO if necessary

Sandy.

  2. Wow! I loved this post. It reached out and grabbed me right where I am on the Narrow Road, and I had to stop and think for a moment–“what am I holding on to that is making my running for the prize harder than it needs to be?” I believe it is a combination of losing two precious people last week and financial problems presenting themselves as bigger than God–when I know that is not true. SO, thanks to your shared wisdom here, I have my effective focus back. Praise The Lord for Sisters! Hugs, Runner ShariLee http://run4theprize.com

  3. Thank you for your comment, Cheryl!

Sorry it took me a while to respond. I haven’t been posting as much lately because of “life’s busy-ness”. But I’m back!
