Enjoying Your Five Senses

While relaxing on the beach I came to realize that one of the many reasons I enjoy the beach is that I enjoy experiencing the beach through  ALL my 5 senses. That might sound kind of weird but hear me out. We experience the world through our 5 senses: sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. When I’m at the beach, I enjoy the soothing rhythmic sounds of the ocean waves rolling in, I LOVE the smell of the ocean with coconut suntan lotion mixed together, I’m in awe of the beautiful sparkling colored layers of the ocean’s green and blue hues, I love the feel of the silky soft sand between my toes, and I always look forward to tasting once again my all time favorite, Key Lime Pie ( no photo of the Key Lime Pie  : (  ). How can I NOT love the beach when I love these things I experience through ALL my senses?

But then I thought,” I can create even MORE events or just moments where I simply love the 5 senses experienced ! At home, I can have one of my favorite scented candles burning , while listening to beautiful soft classical music, seeing a lovely bouquet of bright flowers nearby, feeling the softness of my favorite” throw” over me while sinking into a big comfy chair, and eating warm homemade apple crisp with a cup of coffee. Or I might make some Key Lime Pie!

I could “create” many more experiences that would feed my 5 senses with simple memorable experiences. And I don’t really need to go to Florida to accomplish it.I can take a MINI vacation at home! So what are some things that YOU enjoy experiencing with your 5 senses? Put them all together sometime and give yourself a treat to your senses. We all need moments where we can kick back and just ENJOY a moment or two. Try it. You’ll like it!  sandy

  1. Looks wonderful and very British, especially the garden settings! I’d enjoy this a lot, but ONLY if it came with a gardener!!! I’ve been known to kill cactus…with my brown thumbs.
